CHANGE IN SHELTER HOURS THIS WEEK

The Fulton County animal shelter will be open this Wednesday (August 23rd) but closed all day on Thursday (August 24th) due to the road closures surrounding the former president’s arrival at the Fulton County Jail located down the street from the animal shelter. To adopt or foster a dog on Thursday, please visit our Midtown shelter (981 Howell Mill Road NW) where there are over 100 dogs in need of homes this week. Thank you for your support!

The Fulton County Animal Shelter is out of housing space. We’re asking our community for help with stray pets so we can focus on emergency and critical situations. Animals in need will not and should not be abandoned. If you have found a healthy pet, please fill out a Found Pet Report. If you need other assistance please email pethelp@fultonanimalservices.com but know that the response time is delayed due to incredibly high volumes of animals and people in need of assistance.

If you lost a pet, please visit the shelter and check the lost pet website page.

Adopt a pet in July and choose your pet’s adoption fee! Our shelters are full of incredible pets waiting for homes, and to them, your love is priceless!

Adopt

When you adopt a pet, you save a life. And your life is changed for the better as well. In addition to unconditional love, having a pet brings many psychological, emotional and physical health benefits, too.

Certain dogs housed in our shelter have the most urgent need for a home. Please visit this page to learn more.

LifeLine embraces the Adopters Welcome approach originated by the Humane Society of the United States. This philosophy encourages conversation-based and open-minded adoptions, enabling us to find more homes for our shelter pets without unnecessary judgment.

TRIAL ADOPTION

Our Foster to Family program is a great opportunity to bring a pet home for a two-week trial adoption. You’ll even get support from our foster team for those two weeks. This allows you time to ensure the pet is an excellent fit for your family!

FOSTER PETS

Avoid coming to the shelter and browse pets who are available for adoption and currently living in foster homes. Foster parents can provide helpful information about their foster pet to you.

FAMILY TO FAMILY

Sometimes situations change and loved pets need to find new homes. You can adopt a pet directly from their current guardians, preventing them from ever spending a night in an animal shelter.

PETS FOR PATRIOTS

LifeLine supports our U.S. military veterans by partnering with Pets for Patriots to help them adopt a new pet for free. Every Pets for Patriots member receives a fee-waived adoption, a pet gift card, discounts on pet care and so much more.

Working Cats

Working Cats are community cats who are not suitable to be household companions and are happiest living outside. Although they are free-roaming, working cats still need shelter, food, water and vet care. Whether at your place of work, or even in your yard, outdoor housing can provide community cats with a second chance at a good life.

Working Cats provide organic, non-toxic pest control services free of charge! Cats are rodent specialists, but they also do an excellent job removing unwanted insects.

Working cats are a great match for areas with safe outdoor shelters such as barns, warehouses, garden centers or backyards with sheds.

We recommend that two or more cats are relocated at the same time. Cats form strong bonds, and having a friend at the new site will increase the likelihood that the cats do not run away.

When you adopt working cats, a LifeLine employee will give you a simple but essential relocation protocol to follow to prevent the cats from running away. The protocol involves setting up a home base for the cats and keeping them contained to it for 3–4 weeks minimum. This process will help ensure that your cats adjust to their new home properly.

Yes. Some cats do not know how to hunt, and even those who are good hunters should be given cat food and clean water each day to ensure they’re getting enough to eat.

Working cats can be adopted at no charge and will be fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Email us for more information about adopting a working cat.
